Joe Biden: the smirking Vice President

If you watched the vice presidential debate Thursday night it’s likely that the single point you’re likely to take away from the event was that Vice President Biden likes to flash his pearly whites. Vice President Biden launched volley after volley of disrespect squarely at vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan.; how that will come off to the greater audience is yet to be determined.

Biden Treats Ryan With Disdain

Biden was exceedingly rude towards Paul Ryan, interrupting Ryan during almost every response. Between the sneers, smirks and interruptions many of Biden’s arguments may well be lost on the electorate.

Biden dismissed arguments by Ryan as malarkey, “stuff” and head shaking. It was the single most disrespectful performance by a candidate at this level in recent history.

Ryan had the sound bite of the night when Biden brought up the 47 percent video of Romney.

“I think the vice president very well knows, that sometimes the words don’t come out of your mouth the right way,” Ryan said.

Biden Sharp and Disrespectful

On points the vice president had a fair performance, but on demeanor and respect it was a complete strikeout.

What will the public take away from this debate? Not much; it’s a vice presidential debate going up against Thursday Night Football and no one expects either Biden or Ryan’s performance, good or bad, to have any significant impact on the coming election.

Polling done by CNN shortly after the conclusion of the debate showed a Ryan victory 48 percent to 44 percent; a near draw.

There is only one clear winner in this debate: Joe Biden’s dentist.
