Ever since the shooting at Shady Hook Elementary school officials have been losing their marbles. Kids can no longer play “Cowboys and Indians,” because schools believe that can terrorize other students. Kids aren’t allow to speak of guns, draw a gun, or even hold their fingers in the shape of a gun. So everyone can predict what happened when a 5-year-old child brought a cap gun to school in a state that has already proven to be irrational about guns: Maryland.
In a story reported in The Washington Post, “a kindergartner who brought a cowboy-style cap gun onto his Calvert County school bus was suspended for 10 days after showing a friend the orange-tipped toy, which he had tucked inside his backpack on his way to school”
Doesn’t a cap gun speak for itself? It’s a toy. Why would anyone need to interrogate a child about their intent? This poor 5-year-old was subjected to more than two hours of questions before his mother was called. The terrified boy, according to his mother, was so upset that he uncharacteristically wet his pants during the episode.
“I have no problem that he had a consequence to his behavior,” said the mother, “What I have a problem with is the severity and the way it was handled.”
Frankly the treatment afforded this young child sounds like abuse and one of the idiot Liberals in Maryland needs to lose their job.
According to a story in The Daily Caller, the boy brought the gun to school “because his friend had brought a water gun the previous day. He later told his mother than he ‘really, really’ wanted his friend to see it.”
The boy brought the orange-tipped, cap gun to school. You see, the orange tip is intended to show any adult that it is a toy guy; but in these days of suspensions for making the gesture of a gun with your fingers something tangible will get you suspended for 10 days along with a terrorist style interrogation. Wonder if they considered water-boarding?
There appears to be no end to the public school spastic responses to the shooting at Shady Hook. Oh, and by-the-way the cap gun was unloaded. Can you imagine what they would’ve done had they found caps in the gun? According to the Washington Post “it would have been deemed an explosive and police would have been called in.” Would they have sent in the bomb squad to “disarm” the cap?
“The school was quite obviously taking it very seriously, and he’s 5 years old,” the mother said. “Why were we not immediately contacted?”
The principal told the boy’s mother that the boy had simulated shooting someone on the bus with the offending novelty. However, both the boy and his older sister, a first-grader, say the principal is not telling the truth.
The family’s attorney, Robin Ficker, said that the age of the child is important and that the incident could have been used as a teachable moment.
“Kids play cowboys and Indians,” he said. “They play cops and robbers. You’re talking about a little 5-year-old here.”
Poor kid. Stupid Liberals.
