Maxine Waters makes Tea Party top-ten list

When Rep. Gabby Giffords was shot in Arizona earlier this year a number of Democrats were quick to blame right-wing extremists; of course nothing could be farther from the truth. Jared Lee Loughner was a sick person with no political point-of-view; yet that didn’t stop numerous left-wingers from blaming anything conservative-related.

As hard as it might be to imagine, the one positive thing that came out of Gifford’s’ shooting was a call for civility in our politics. Caught in their own web of blame, the Democrats universally called for respect and a lowering of the tenor in Washington. Alas, the Liberal’s good manners were short lived.

Apparently Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters is willing to smear anyone, including the Democrat’s latest villain, the Tea party, to deflect responsibility for ravaging the economy. Fresh off her rant on the lack of jobs in the inner-city, Waters told a crowd of constituents at “The Kitchen Table Summit” this weekend that the “Tea Party can go straight to hell.”

In a statement the Tea Party Patriots, suggested President Obama should step in to put a check on the overheated rhetoric.

“We’ve had Democrats calling American citizens ‘terrorists’ and ‘hostage takers,’ and now an elected Democratic representative says that we can ‘go straight to hell.’ The president and all leaders of the Democratic Party, who have called for civility in the past, are neglecting to censure their own. Is civility only required from their opponents?” they asked in a statement. “Perhaps it’s time for a new-NEW era of civility. … The president’s silence on these latest violations of civility has been deafening, but not surprising.”

Waters isn’t alone in the current rage against the Tea Party. Failing to set the economy on a positive trajectory Democrats are back in their home states pointing fingers at anyone and any organization rather than taking any responsibility for the current state of the U.S. economy.

Just last week the California Democrat told a Detroit crowd that she was frustrated with the Obama administration’s approach to the economy, urging voters to “unleash” her on the White House. Undoubtedly Waters got a serious dressing-down from fellow Dems and is now back-in-line with the liberal talking-points. While Mr. Obama’s re-election campaign is quick to point fingers at Congress, Waters and other’s up on Capitol Hill would prefer to point elsewhere than to look in the mirror.

Waters constituents were in a sour mood at the summit and Waters quickly turned to Democrat talking-points to repel their ire:

“I’m not afraid of anybody. This is a tough game. You can’t be intimidated. You can’t be frightened. And as far as I’m concerned, the Tea Party can go straight to hell,” she said, “and– and– I intend to help them get there.”

While the phrase, “go straight to hell,” might be a common colloquialism, Waters couldn’t stop while she was ahead adding that she intended to help them get there. Going to hell requires one of two things: either you die or you re-elect Barack Obama. Since Waters is all about re-electing Obama, you’d have to assume she’s wishing Tea Party members die and she’s willing to help them do it. Is that a threat?

Democrats better get off the beat up the Tea Party wagon quickly. Nearly half of all Tea Party members are Independents and criticizing Independents is a quick recipe for political suicide.

The latest round of Tea Party attacks smack of desperation; clearly the Democrats aren’t looking to work with Republicans but rather point the finger at others for their own lack of governing competence. With calls from all quarters for Mr. Obama to reign in the vile rhetoric, he sits quietly on a porch in Martha’s Vineyard watching the sideshow. Now that’s leadership.
